Orograph is a working preview — the 3D configurator and print files are real, checkout is a demo and takes no payment.

Questions & answers

Orograph turns any place on Earth into a custom 3D-printed relief model: frame it on a 3D globe, preview it live in about 30 seconds, and order it in PLA (six colors), SLS nylon or full-color sandstone — 8 to 30 cm, from about €20, made to order in Austria. The shop is currently a working preview with a demo checkout.

The product

What exactly do I get?

A solid 3D-printed relief model of the exact area you framed: terrain surface, clean vertical skirt and flat base. City-scale frames can include real 3D buildings, streets and waterways from OpenStreetMap.

What sizes are available?

You choose the longer edge continuously from 8 to 30 cm. The configurator shows the exact width, depth, height and volume of your model while you adjust it.

Which materials can I choose?

Matte PLA (plant-based, six colors: arctic white, graphite, terracotta, forest green, glacier blue, dune sand), gray SLS nylon without visible layer lines, or full-color sandstone with altitude tinting.

What is relief emphasis?

A vertical multiplier from 1× to 3×. 1× is true-to-scale; higher values make subtle landscapes read clearly at small print sizes. The live preview shows the difference instantly.

How detailed is the terrain?

Source elevation data resolves up to ~30 m per sample — plenty for mountains, valleys and coastlines. Very small frames under ~1 km look soft; the preview shows you honestly what to expect.

Cities, buildings & water

When can I add 3D buildings and streets?

For frames up to roughly 5 km across. Building footprints come from OpenStreetMap in their true shapes, with heights from map data where tagged; streets become finely raised ribbons.

Can rivers and lakes be highlighted?

Yes, for frames up to about 50 km: waterways and lakes become gently raised surfaces that follow the terrain, and on PLA prints they can take their own contrast color.

How do multi-color prints work?

You pick a base color plus optional contrast colors for buildings, streets and water (+€4 per extra color). Multi-color orders also generate a 3MF file with one colored object per group, ready for AMS/MMU printing.

Ordering & pricing

How is the price calculated?

Live from your actual model: €9 base for setup and finishing, €0.16/cm² footprint for machine time, and material by true solid volume (PLA €0.11/cm³, nylon €0.16/cm³, sandstone €0.24/cm³), plus €4 per extra PLA color. Small models start around €20.

Is checkout real?

Not yet — Orograph is a working preview. Orders are stored and real print-ready files are generated, but no payment is taken and nothing ships. This banner-level honesty stays until real payments launch.

What files does an order generate?

A watertight binary STL per model (256-sample resolution), and for multi-color PLA orders additionally a multi-object 3MF with per-group colors.

How long does production take?

PLA about 4 days, SLS nylon about 6, full-color sandstone about 9 — plus shipping. The configurator shows an estimated arrival date next to the price.

What does shipping cost?

A flat €6.90, free for orders over €120.

Data & privacy

Where does the map data come from?

Elevation from the open AWS Terrain Tiles dataset (~30 m, includes bathymetry), basemap and geodata from OpenStreetMap via OpenFreeMap, Nominatim and the Overpass API — all open data, credited on the map.

Do you track me?

No tracking runs without consent. The configurator needs no account, and previews require no email. If analytics are ever enabled, they sit behind a consent banner (EU consent-mode).

Is my framed area or design private?

Designs you save are stored so your link works, and orders store the data needed to generate your files. Nothing is published or shared.
